Jamaican Black Castor Oil for Hair Growth
Works with combination of Art Naturals Organic Argan Oil Shampoo and Nanogen Hair Growth Treatment serum.
Can be applied once a week before shampooing.
I know I said in a previous post that I’ve been staying away from using the Jamaican Black Castor oil even as my husband tries to convince me that it works (to reduce hair loss and help regrow his hair).
Jamaican Black Castor Oil Benefits
It’s not that I wasn’t convinced of Jamaican Black Castor Oil benefits. I understand that many people would attest that castor oil does benefit hair condition and in some cases skin as well.
Some people go as far as claiming that the oil works even better than coconut oil!
A Concoction That Surprisingly Works
As I’m writing this post, it’s already May 2017.
So it’s about half a year since he started using the combination of Jamaican Black Castor oil, Nanogen Hair Treatment serum for men as well as Art Naturals Organic Argan Oil Shampoo work to try firstly stop the increased hair loss and to hopefully stimulate hair growth.
In fact, hubby tried using coconut oil and used shampoos including Lipogaine Big 3 Shampoo, Nanogen Shampoo but no combination (of oil, shampoo and hair growth treatment) seems to work until he introduced the Jamaican Black Castor Oil into his ‘hair growth regime’.
Texture of Oil
The oil is rather thick in consistency and smells nutty, although it’s not as overwhelming as say, Tamanu oil. The smell is not an issue to me because it’s not something I’m leaving on my scalp as I get out of the house.
How to Apply the Oil ?
Hubby started using the oil just ONCE a week (because with anything new, it’s better not to over-do it). He pours some oil into a small bowl (just enough to allow his finger tips to dip into the bowl of oil) before applying on his scalp. He then massages it through his scalp and leaves it for about two hours before shampooing his hair.
As he was initially trying out the oil, he left it on his scalp for two hours.
However, after a couple of months using the oil and finding that it generally helps to improve his hair condition, he began to leave the oil overnight before shampooing his hair the next morning.
NOTE : If you intend to leave the oil overnight, please place a towel on your pillow
or you might regretably stain the pillow case
Now, he applies the castor oil TWICE a week prior to shampooing. Please note that washing off the oil may take two rounds of shampooing or else your hair might still feel and look greasy.
As stated earlier, he now uses the Art Naturals Organic Argan Oil Shampoo and applies Nanogen Hair Treatment Serum (men) once the hair is dry.
Apart from these three ‘staple’ products, hubby also uses Nanogen Hair Thickening Spray occasionally just to ensure that his hair stays in place, regardless of wind conditions. (Hey, vanity is not only for the fairer sex!)
Jamaican Castor Oil for Hair Growth
I had not been as diligent as hubby in using the castor oil. In fact, I had never used it till about a week ago.
What put me off in using the oil is that I don’t fancy having something greasy on my head, particularly before I go to sleep!. But seeing that the castor oil does help to reduce hubby’s hair loss, I started applying it on my scalp a week ago.
I’m planning to make this a routine once a week.
With my first use, I find that my hair is much, much easier to comb through. It feels soft. But it does take two rounds of shampooing before you wash off the oil completely.
At this point, however, I can’t vouch for any Jamaican Black Castor Oil benefits in terms of hair growth, as I’ve just started using it.
I intend to update this post in a month’s time to see if the oil, combined with the argan oil shampoo and Nanogen serum works as well for me as it is for hubby.
